As sickening as it is to think that people could take
advantage of others’ kindness, it’s even more appalling that anyone
would be so evil as to harm a special needs individual. But that’s
exactly what two men did when they spotted a young man with Down
Syndrome.
Police are asking that civilians be on the lookout for two
suspects caught on camera doing the unthinkable to a mentally challenged
man, having released photos of the perpetrators.
Swedish newspaper Friatider reports that a 20-year-old man with Down Syndrome was tricked by force of threat into emptying his entire savings.
Two men, who appear to be of Middle Eastern or Asian decent,
approached the young man while he was withdrawing cash at an ATM in the
Centre of Varberg. At first, they tried to convince the young man to
sign a fake contract for a loan, stating that they would pay him back if
he helped them start their new business.
Police have released photos in the hope that someone will identify the perpetrators.
When the man refused, the two followed him around the
corner, harassing him for the money. Eventually, the pair duped the man
into going back to the machine and giving them everything in his
account.
The two frauds demanded he withdraw over $1,400. When the
young man showed them that he only had around $120, they forced him to
attempt to overdraw several times. The thieves soon gave up, taking off
with the last of their victim’s money and leaving him confused and
distraught.
The young man’s mother discovered what had happened and reported the crime to police.“Personally I think it is terrible when people with disabilities or elderly persons are victims of fraudsters,” he said.
If found, the two suspects are to be charged with
fraud. Police are concerned that the pair might be involved in an
international criminal gang, although they refused to disclose any
further information.
The Muslim Issue
claims that the suspects appear to be of Middle Eastern or Asian origin
and are believed to be Muslims. However, police and media are careful
not to make reference to the criminals’ ethnicity or religion for fear
of seeming politically incorrect. Still, with Sweden’s refugee and
migrant statistics, it’s extremely suspect that the pair are of foreign
descent.
Since 2014, over 130,000 refugees have been distributed to Sweden. In the past few months, nearly 70,000 Syrian refugees
alone have made their way to the country. The application for refugees
has risen 25 percent in just over a year and is expected to skyrocket
with the introduction of countless refugees headed to Europe this year
and the next.
It’s absolutely sickening to see any human being, refugee,
migrant, or local have such callous regard of their fellow-man, namely
one who has a disability. However, Sweden and the rest of the West will
be seeing a lot more of this indecency with the progressive policies
that allow those who refuse to assimilate within their borders.
