Quite the incredible incident was caught on video after
someone decided to share the evils of the Quran. However, things really
hit the fan when the man ripped up the so-called “holy” book, prompting
Muslim members of the crowd to do the unimaginable.
The occurrence took place in Ohio’s Wright State University,
as a man sought to express his First Amendment rights, sharing his
feelings on Islam and the Quran. During the rant, the man could be heard
shouting, “This is evil,” while holding up a copy of the Quran.
Although there were what appeared to be Muslim men standing
just in front of the speaker, it seems as though there were many
Christians in the crowd as well. While he was shouting, those in the
crowd could be heard yelling, “God is love,” trying to drown the man’s
voice out.
Now, it can’t be said for certain, but this suggests to me
that the man was Christian, as he also even mentions Jesus as well and
attempts to voice the fundamental evils of Islam. Either way, those in
the crowd didn’t seem to like it that much, thus they shouted at him in
return.
Of course, it is true that God is love, as He says that
among the most important commandments is that we love our neighbor as
ourselves. That being said, this man had a more outward approach when it
came to what he wanted to say.
As things became more heated, he eventually began to do what
he apparently was aiming to do the entire time – rip pages from the
Quran. With Muslims front and center, as you could probably imagine, it
didn’t go over so well.
As soon as the man began ripping the book apart, the Muslims
physically attacked the speaker. After failing to grab the Quran from
his hands, they quickly took a more aggressive approach, prompting a
security guard to jump in and separate the attackers from the speaker –
or at least try.
Although I may not necessarily agree with the man’s tactics,
what we do have to acknowledge here is that it’s his First Amendment
right to say what he said. He has the freedom to say and do (so long as
it’s actually legal) whatever he wants without the fear of being
persecuted by anyone, whether privately or publicly.
That being said, this is the exact problem that society is
having with Muslims today – they are not tolerant of anyone or anything
outside of Islam. Muslims do not allow you to speak your mind, they do
not allow you to express your opinion, and they most certainly do not
care if what you are doing is perfectly legal when it comes to insulting
their religion, god, and so-called “prophet.”
Unfortunately for them, this is the land of freedom. I’m
sick of this religion trampling all over our legal rights. It’s simple
really – you don’t like our rules, our laws, and our way of life,
there’s the door.
If you enjoy the freedoms that our nation affords its citizens, then respect our laws and please, for the love of God, shut up.
