A celebration of love and pride marks St Valentine's Day for those attending the 17th annual Big Gay Out in Auckland.
Record crowds are expected at the gay pride festival, which kicks off at midday today at Coyle Park in Point Chevalier.
It features bands, performers, a beer garden, dance
tent, more than 100 market stalls and free and confidential STI and HIV
testing.
Acts include Annie Crummer and Samantha Jade, from Australia.
The winner of Mr Gay New Zealand will also be announced.

Minister John Key is expected to attend, and security is likely to be
tight following a Waitangi incident where a protester flung a sex toy at
National MP Steven Joyce, the New Zealand Herald reports.
A bus will run from Family Bar on Karangahape Rd to the event and back every 15 minutes - cost is $4 one way or $5 return.
The event sponsored by Durex is due to wrap up at 7pm.
The Big Gay Out is set to get under way in Auckland, with record crowds expected.
